Basic characteristics

Reduction of distances
Multi-stage transports
Optimum control
Avoidance of waiting times
Congestion-free guidance
Even utilisation

The truck guidance system is one module in the Jungheinrich warehouse management system and it coordinates the allocation of transport orders in your warehouse. By managing your fleet of fork lift trucks as well as the transport orders to be executed, the Jungheinrich truck guidance system is able to optimise your warehouse system. Depending on the transport order and priority, the transport orders are sorted into a prioritised sequence and sent to the appropriate truck as a job order.

Advantages in detail

Creation of double cycles

By combining the stacking of goods with appropriate retrievals, the Jungheinrich truck guidance system is able to reduce the proportion of empty runs.

Priorities

By assigning priorities, the Jungheinrich truck guidance system is able to take into account different deadline requirements. To ensure that 'unsuitable' transport orders do not remain unprocessed, the priority can also rise as the waiting time increases.

Managing the truck fleet

In the Jungheinrich truck guidance system, the fork lift trucks are assigned to the work areas according to their features. Based on this, the Jungheinrich truck guidance system is able to select the appropriate fork lift truck to undertake a transport order.

Multi-stage transports

In many warehouses, there is a need for multi-stage transports to be carried out. For example, the truck requirements for transport in the racking levels or transport in narrow aisles are very different. In order to use the appropriate trucks for the respective transport distances, the routes are divided into several segments which are connected by handover points. The handover of the transport units at the handover point is controlled by the Jungheinrich truck guidance system so there are no waiting times and the buffer does not overrun.

Reducing empty runs

In addition to the creation of double cycles which already help to reduce the proportion of empty runs, these will be further reduced by a 'transport function'. The Jungheinrich truck guidance system checks whether, when on an empty run, there are transport units which are located en route.

Coordination of the trucks

Particularly in narrow-aisle warehouses, where trucks cannot overtake on both sides, rules such as an exclusive aisle reservation are to be coordinated. In other words, the Jungheinrich WMS grants a truck the exclusive use of one aisle within the warehouse to carry out a transport task. At the same time, no other truck can be directed into this aisle.
